ABOUT ME
Hey, I’m Matt Schmidt, a Motion Designer and VFX Artist based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I focus on telling stories through motion, whether that means rigging and animating characters, building and refining visual effects, or compositing elements to tie a scene together.
I’m currently a junior at Kendall College of Art and Design, studying Digital Art and Design with a focus in Motion Design. I tend to gravitate toward the technical side of things like rigging systems, VFX setups, and figuring out how to make complex ideas actually work. However, I’m an animator at heart! I care just as much about timing, style, and storytelling as I do about structure and control under the hood.
When I’m not working, you can find me in the gym, on the rock wall, or pacing around thinking about potential project ideas and technical solutions. I’m passionate about creative problem-solving, whether it’s in motion design or figuring out how to hang a better heel hook.
